Patti’s Birthday

Patti has a special place in her heart for cats, so what better way to celebrate her birthday than wtih a cat cake? This is a 6-inch round cake with a cake topper designed to look like the family cat, Caramel. This cake serves 8 people.

Terry and Mary Ellen’s 30th Anniversary

My co-worker commissioned this for her friends’ 30th wedding anniversary. The bottom tier is a 10-inch chocolate cake and topped with a 6-inch vanilla cake. Together, these cakes would serve 40 people. I charge $140 for a cake this size and design. The cake stand pictured could be rented for a small fee and deposit.

Happy 50th Dad!

My dad is a big Hot Wheels fan, and has collected them for many years. What better way to celebrate his 50th birthday than with a Hot Wheels-themed cake? This cake is made of a 2-inch tall, 8-inch round and a standard 4-inch tall, 6-inch round. This cake serves 15 people.

Lola’s 1st Birthday

A former coworker asked me to do a cake for her daughter Lola’s 1st birthday. We decided on a square base for the cake, and a round layer on top, decorated with flowers and butterflies. The bottom is 10 inches and the top layer is 8 inches; this cake would serve 40 people. You can see how Lola liked her cake on the blog Bemidji Baby.

Square Cake

This weekend I used both a new cake recipe and my new square cake pans. I was pretty pleased with the results. The vanilla cake is a recipe that claimed to be very moist, and it was as advertised. This is a 1-tier, 6-inch cake, which has been torted and layered with my favorite: buttercream. I think the quilt-like technique was pretty neat too. Because this cake is only one layer, it would serve 4 to 5 people.
