Abbey & Chad’s Wedding

Abbey and Chad requested a “bubble cake” from Martha Stewart’s wedding book. It’s a great go-to source for creative inspiration. This cake is 6, 8, 10 and 12-inch rounds covered in vanilla buttercream and swiss dots. The bubbles surrounding the bottom of the cake are small glass bulbs. I also made 10 sheet cakes to serve guests.

A Lady Never Tells

Last year, my girlfriend Stef was the recipient of my first fondant-decorated cake. That means her birthday this year marks the one-year anniversary of my adventure. This year, I made a 2 tier cake with one of her favorite colors: red. I’m so glad  to have her along for my cake-decorating journey! Happy Birthday Stef!

Welcome Baby Pikar!

Stef and her firlfriends threw a low-key bridal shower for their friend who is expecting her second baby. This is an 8-inch vanilla cake with pink colored buttercream inside. The colors match the baby’s nursery.

Billie’s 100th Birthday!

My co-worker comissioned this cake for her grandmother’s 100th birthday celebration.I knew it had to be good, as she has 99 other cakes to compare this one with. The bottom layer is chocolate with orange buttercream inside and the top two layers are vanilla with raspberry buttercream filling. The decor reflects Billie’s favorite color (yellow) and flower (peonies). I must say these buds were fun to make!

Cake-Tasting Cupcakes

This evening I am meeting with Abby and Chad for a wedding cake tasting/consultation. Cupcakes, combined with afternoon light and a new cake platter made for a perfect photo opportunity. Not to brag or anything, but these cupcakes taste even better than they look (even my mother in law approves)!
