Baby on Board
This cake was designed to match the adorable train-themed baby shower invite for my cousin Susie. The cake is vanilla with vanilla buttercream. I also made train-themed cupcakes to decorate each table at the shower.
Special Cupcakes for a Special Lady
My coworker Natalie and I share more than a name. She also has a January birthday!
Thank Heaven for Little Girls
I planned a trip to Iowa and was going to visit my long-time friend, who is expecting her first child. The last time I saw her she was just telling people about her pregnancy, and we met just one day before her due date. We’re still waiting for Baby Golly to arrive, but we’re hoping she’s just fashionably late.
Brunch Sweets
Raspberry Meringue
After volunteering for HeartBeat 5000, some friends and I got together for a late-morning brunch. Children’s Hospitals & Clinics of Minnesota is a great cause, and getting together for a laid-back afternoon with friends was a sweet way to wrap up the morning! For a treat, I brought meringue with a fresh raspberry sauce and whipped cream. Although I didn’t make it, I also have to share my friend Cavan’s amazing dessert!
Frozen Mango, Blackberry & Vanilla Mosaic
This layered treat tastes even better than it looks, if that’s even possible! It’s made of softened layers of vanilla ice cream, mango sorbet and a fresh blackberry puree. I’ll definitely be adding this one to the recipe book!
Woods Shower
My girlfriend Kyle is expecting her first little one. We know it’s a boy, and that’s as much detail as the couple has shared! This cake is made of a 6- and 8-inch vanilla round with vanilla buttercream filling. The only direction I had was to try to match the baby’s bedding, which is blue and brown with polka dots and stripes. I can’t wait to share the cake with her and her other friends at this afternoon’s shower!
