A client ordered a couple dozen of cupcakes for his birthday. While the flavors and decorations are from my go-to list of flavors, I couldn’t help but devour a couple of each. Key lime cupcake with cream cheese frosting, and carrot cake cupcakes.

Melissa requested this cake for her sister’s bridal shower. The color and flower inspiration came from the shower invites and an inspiration photo for the bridal bouquet.

The flowers are fondant calla lilies and roses. The cake has a Swiss dot pattern that matched the party decorations.  The monogram topper matches the couple’s joined monogram. The filling is the ever-popular key lime cake with key lime buttercream.

My Cara girlfriend jokes that her life could be a sitcom, because it’s rife with everyday challenges and related small victories. But, I’m of the option that those small victories are what you have to celebrate! For her “27th episode” friends are gathering at a quintessential corner bar for none other than a gloriously greasy cheeseburger.

We also collaborated to make a fun spring-inspired cake that is probably a little ahead of its time, at least if you venture outside the coziness of the bar’s back booth. The lime-colored fondant covers a key-lime cake with lime buttercream and a fresh raspberry filling. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration Cara, and here’s to even more wonderful “episodes.”

My coworker Zoe’s son Charlie is turning 2 today! He is a true boy and loves anything with wheels. For his cupcakes, we decided on “dirt” covered cupcakes with wheels and a few with the number 2. (Don’t worry, the dirt is actually graham crackers and Oreo crumbs.

I had one extra batch of key lime filling after last weekend’s wedding tarts, so I made a full-sized version to bring to Stef and Troy’s for dinner. Who says leftovers can’t look good?
